4 days until I start university. I am super excited and of course equally nervous.
On the 28th of August, I received an induction letter and timetable, reading list and student support information. As expected, the reading list is extremely long, identifying 28 journals and 68 textbooks. From the reading list, 3 textbooks were identified as useful preparatory reading, these are:
Lymbery, M and Butler, S (2004) Social Work Ideals and Practice Realities, Palgrave Macmillan.
Parker, J and Bradley, G (2003) Social Work Practice: Assessment, Planning, Intervention and Review, Palgrave
Stepney, P and Ford, D (2000) Social Work Models, Methods and Theories, Russell House Publishing.
I obtained 2 of the books from Amazon and 1 from eBay, amounting to a total of £34. All books are in splendid condition. Bought brand new, these books would have been double the price. So… be sure to look around when purchasing books to save some pennies, and even better – try the university library.
The next 4 days will be spent doing preparatory reading and organising university essentials.
